Why Choose Bankruptcy?

Most people have a negative view of bankruptcy. They see it as a way of avoiding taking responsibility, and people who choose this option are often thought of as irresponsible. However, more and more people are choosing bankruptcy, and most of them have valid reasons. What are the reasons for choosing bankruptcy? Here are just a few.

1. Debt can be a danger to a person's health. If this sounds extreme, consider the effects of living with financial stress every hour of every day. People who have a large amount of debt may suffer from migraines, panic attacks, depression, chronic respiratory problems, and a lowered immune system. Sometimes the stress of the situation becomes great enough to cause life threatening problems such as coronary problems and high blood pressure. Stress has been linked to a diverse range of diseases, including diabetes, asthma, obesity, and cancer. From this perspective, filing bankruptcy just may save a person's life.

2. Many people carry a debt burden that they will never be able to pay off. Sometimes this debt is acquired through no fault of their own, for instance in the case of a breadwinner losing his job or a family losing their business. Which is a better decision: to make payments faithfully for the rest of your life knowing that there is no way you can ever pay them off, or to file bankruptcy and begin to rebuild your future? There is no shame in moving on with your life.

3. Having a bad credit record can negatively affect your ability to live a quality life. A bad credit record may prevent you from buying a home or getting a job. Filing for bankruptcy may have short term affects on a person's life, but it allows you to start over and re-establish your life immediately.

4. It gives you a 'clean slate'. Everyone makes mistakes, but most of us are not forced to pay for them for the rest of our lives. Even criminals get a chance to start over once they have paid for their crime. Why should debt be any different? Sometimes people need a second chance, and bankruptcy can allow them to have this.

Bankruptcy may be a stressful experience, and it has definite negative ramifications on a person's life, but sometimes it is the only option. Bankruptcy only lasts for a few years, but debt and its after effects can take a lifetime to overcome. Find more information at www.bankruptcyoptions.com.au
